Where to get coupons....

Some of you have asked where I get my coupons and also what all the couponing lingo means.

I get the bulk of my coupons from the Sunday papers. The LA Times often runs promotions where you can pay $20 for a one year Sunday subscription. I took advantage of that and get two issues delivered to my house every Sunday. You can check with your local paper to see if they have similar promotions. Each week the paper contains two or three coupon inserts. That's hundreds of dollars worth of coupons every week.

I store my inserts for several months in my coupon binder (pictured) because there are often offers where I need a coupon from one or even two months ago. You'll see in my Sunday Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS coupon match ups that there are often deals like that.

The inserts come from one of four companies:
Smart Source (SS)
Proctor and Gamble (P&G)
Red Plum (RP)
General Mills (GM)

If you see a coupon listed on my blog (for example $0.50 off Twinkies) then you will see it listed with the insert type it came from and the date. For example a coupon from the Red Plum insert on March 6 would say 3/6 RP insert.

You can also get coupons from other sources:

* Printed on your computer from sites such as Coupons.com or from manufacturer websites.
* Coupons that come in the mail. If you write to manufacturers they will often send you a free sample and a coupon.
* Coupon inserts that come in the free advertising mailers to your house. They are often bundled in a flyer from a chain like CVS.
* From coffee shops and libraries. Both of these places often have newspapers on hand for their patrons to read and would be happy if you ask them to give you the coupons.
* Friends and family. Ask them to save you their coupons and then share the savings with them.

Are there any I've missed? Feel free to leave a comment if you can think of anywhere else....
